MainTypes of Car Batteries

One of the most important parts of your car is the car battery. Simply, you won’t be able to start your car without the battery. The process of how the car starts is that when you turn on the ignition key, your car battery fires a burst of electrical energy which results in pulling the electrical components of the car to work. The chemical energy is converted to electrical energy that will power your car and deliver voltage to the starter and the other components of the vehicle.

The battery can be stated as the power storage of the car, so it supplies energy to start the engine. It brings electricity to the ignition system and works with the alternative to power electronics. One of the other main functions of a battery is that it helps to regulate and stabilize voltage as well. So, that we have got a clear idea of a car battery and its functions, now we will look into the main types of batteries available in the market.

Flooded lead acid battery

This is one of the most significant types of car battery types. It can be also stated as the oldest car battery category. Flooded lead acid batteries are very common and affordable as well. It is also called the SLI battery. This is a wet cell battery which is made up of 6 cells with a liquid electrolyte solution of sulfuric acid and water. It supplies a voltage of 12.6V at full charge. It is surely a reliable battery for starting engines.

Silver calcium battery

This is one of the most important types of batteries available in the market. Because this particular battery type was designed as an improved version over the flooded battery technology. It is a lead acid battery with an electrolyte solution. Silver calcium batteries are most of the times are sealed and maintenance-free. These batteries are well known for its resistance to corrosion and for resilience for high temperatures. So, it has a longer lifespan in hotter climates.

Absorbent glass mat battery

Absorbent glass mat battery is also called as AGM battery. It is specially designed as a VRLA battery to support high in demand electrical energyin modern vehicles. It is almost similar to a wet cell battery. The only difference is that a fiberglass separator which can be also stated as glass mat, absorbs the electrolyte solution and keeps it in place.

Bonka battery

Bonka batteries are highly known for its high-performance. These batteries are mostly used in drones. They offer high discharge rates and capacities, making them perfect for applications that requires high power output. These quality bonka batteries are reliable and trusted by people across the world.

So, these are the mostly used car batteries nowadays. Apart from these, there are some other main batteries named Gel cell battery, Enhanced flooded battery, Lithium-ion battery and Nickel metal hydride battery as well. So, it is way better to have a good idea about all types of batteries before buying one.
